Each fortnightly edition, published on Sundays, we will bring you a selection of news which matters, news which tickles, the best in food and drink, what’s on guide, history and humour, occasional jobs and marketplace, profiling top local businesses, secret walks, pubs you didn’t know about, as well as the best places in Sussex you need to know about.

We will air readers’ emails from overheard on Southern Rail to the best places to visit and whether Nissan Micras going 25mph on the A272 should be banned.

The Social has its beginnings from a Metro newspaper article and a video which went viral in 2016 (not the one below). It centred on one commuter who discovered a life hack travelling on Southern Rail. Yes, one which allows you to open a beer bottle in any carriage without a bottle opener.

In late 2023, The Social gave this hack to two long-suffering commuters who couldn’t share their tipple. And thus, a newsletter was born. Sometimes these are the titbits you simply need to know.
